Purpose of Position:
The Material Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the procurement, inventory management, and distribution of materials required for construction projects within the company. They play a crucial role in ensuring timely availability of materials, optimizing inventory levels, and maintaining cost-effectiveness in material procurement processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/KEY JOB ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include but not limited to the following:
- Coordinate the procurement of materials required for construction projects, including sourcing suppliers, obtaining quotations, negotiating contracts, and placing purchase orders.
- Monitor inventory levels of materials and supplies, forecast demand, and ensure adequate
stock levels to support ongoing and upcoming projects. - Conduct quality inspections of incoming materials to ensure compliance with specifications and
standards, and coordinate with suppliers to address any quality issues. - Coordinate the transportation and delivery of materials to construction sites, ensuring timely
delivery and adherence to project schedules. - Monitor material costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement measures to optimize
procurement processes and reduce expenses. - Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, evaluate supplier performance, and address
any issues or concerns to ensure reliability and quality of materials. - Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of material transactions, including
purchase orders, receipts, and inventory levels, and generate regular reports on material usage, costs, and inventory status.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
- Calculate the percentage variance between budgeted and actual material costs for construction projects in order to maintain material cost variance below 5% for each project.
- Determine the efficiency of inventory management by computing the Inventory Turnover Ratio (Cost of Goods Sold / Average Inventory) of 4 or higher annually.
- Evaluate supplier performance based on metrics such as on-time delivery, material quality, and issue responsiveness.
- Ensure materials are available for 99% of scheduled construction activities.
- Implement initiatives leading to 10% cost savings in material procurement annually.
- Achieve a 98% pass rate in material quality inspections.
- Submit all material-related reports accurately and on time, meeting deadlines at least 99% of the time.
COMPETENCIES FOR THE ROLE
To be successful in the role the candidate would be required to demonstrate the following:
- Strong knowledge of procurement principles and practices, including supplier sourcing,
- negotiation, and contract management.
- Proficiency in inventory control techniques, including demand forecasting, stock
replenishment, and inventory valuation. - Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in material specifications, quantities, and
transactions. - Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to optimize material
procurement and inventory management processes. - Effective verbal and written communication skills to liaise with suppliers, project managers,
and other stakeholders. - Ability to identify issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement solutions in a timely manner.
- Familiarity with construction materials, specifications, and standards is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field.
- Certification in supply chain management or procurement (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) is a plus.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in digital marketing, with a focus on real estate, construction, or related industries.
- Proven track record of driving results through digital marketing campaigns, including lead generation, customer acquisition, and brand awareness.
- Proficiency in digital marketing platforms and tools, such as Google Analytics, Google Ads, Facebook Ads Manager, and email marketing software.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis and reporting to measure campaign performance and ROI.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities to develop innovative digital marketing strategies and solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
